Home Basement Remodel

Like many older Tacoma houses, this project started with wasted space in the basement.  Wanting more space for their children, the customer hired New Leaf to convert half of the basement into a finished play area.

We added recessed lighting, added built in benches to conceal the large concrete footing wall, insulated all walls, added several electrical outlets, and took advantage of the crawl space area to add some large in wall storage areas.

The existing staircase was extremely steep so rebuilt the staircase to a lower slope with larger steps to make it much more comfortable to use. In case of possible water intrusion, we also waterproofed the concrete walls and used a raised floor system. We finished the project off with a fun rainbow striped wall paint.
